[WINCHESTER]
Saving People, Hunting Things. The Family Business
The Winchester family has a long history as Men of Letters. However, after the disappearance of Henry Winchester in 1958, that tradition was lost. His son, John, was not brought up with the legacy of the supernatural, but was thrust into it after the death of his wife, Mary (ni Campbell) at the hands of a yellow-eyed demon. He raised his sons, Dean and Sam, to be hunters. John later traded his own life to that demon in exchange for his son's. He had another son, Adam Milligan, who was not raised as a hunter, but was nonetheless pulled into it when first ghouls, then angels sought to use him to get to the Winchesters.
Dean and Sam have had infamous careers as hunters, and are well known in the hunting community. Not always positively. Sam accidentally started the Apocalypse and was on a few shit lists until he sacrificed himself to end it. When that happened, Dean gave up hunting and looked for "a normal life" with a woman named Lisa Braedan. Though that relationship ended when Dean returned to hunting, Dean had grown close to Lisa's son, Ben, and still acts as a father figure to him.

[HARVELLE]
At Best All We Got Is Us. Together.
Bill and Rick Harvelle were brothers as well as hunters. They hunted together when they were young, but only occasionally as they started families. Bill met Ellen West during a case in which he tried to save her brother, Joe, from possession. They kept in touch, and eventually married. They purchased Harvelle's Roadhouse, which Ellen ran while Bill was on the road. They had one daughter, Joanna. Bill died when his daughter was "still in pigtails," and Jo never outgrew her hero worship of him. She became a hunter as well, and against her better judgment Ellen joined her. They both died during the Apocalypse, but were both resurrected in 2012. Ellen rebuilt the Roadhouse, while Jo resumed hunting.
Rick met Annie Fletcher (granddaughter of another hunter named Fletcher) on a hunt they were both working on. What started as a one night stand turned into a family affair when little Charlotte came into the picture. Eventually, Annie realized she was more interested in women and the marriage dissolved when Charley was a teenager. Charley spent a lot of time hunting with her father, while Annie found new love in Leslie Hicks, who quickly became part of the family. Rick died while on a case with Charley a few years later. Charley, however, eventually found a new hunting partner. She met Rory Dekker saving him from a werewolf, and the two were married a few days later. The newlywed glow lasted for four years, at which point Charley found out that Rory wasn't human, and was in fact Kronos, the god of time. Kind of put a damper on things.

[CONNOLY]
Kiss Me, I'm Drunk or Irish or Something.
Patrick Connoly got into hunting in the usual way; nearly dying one drunken night when something leaped out of the dark at him. With the kind of luck only given to idiots, he somehow managed to survive and only dug himself in further. When he met and married Miranda, it was a match made in some kind of alcohol fueled nightmare. They managed to have five kids together before Miranda, fed up with his lifestyle, finally bolted. j
Patrick raised - if you could call it that - his kids in the hunting lifestyle. Mostly he lives on the road, only coming home to annoy his family. Tara has done most of the actual raising of the kids since she was a teenager, and is their fierce mama bear. She takes her frustrations with life out on the hunt, worrying she's turning into her father. Sean is the family provider, scraping by enough money for them to survive. Caleb is the idealistic family hero who wants to hunt to save the world. Abby and Dustin are too young to hunt, but they already have been drug into the life.

[HARDWICK]
We Hunt Those Who Hunt Us.
The Hardwicks have been in the hunting game since before the civil war. They fund their war on evil by operating a large consulting firm. Roger is the head of the company, and is training his step-son to take his place some day. His daughter, Brooke, has been trained her whole life to take over the hunting side of the family business. They also have a long standing rivalry with the Baxter family. No one knows the real cause of the feud, just that each side blames the other.
