[THE ROAD SO FAR]
"You guys aren't supposed to be here. You're not in this story."
"Yeah, well, we're making it up as we go."
- Chuck and Castiel
[THEN]
The world used to be a much simpler place. Vampires were thought to be extinct, salt-and-burn ghost hunts were the usual order, werewolves were a rare bit of excitement and demons only possessed about three or four people a year. Civilians walked around blissfully unaware of the evil lurking all around them and the small, surly, fragmented but effective nationwide network of hunters generally had a handle on the things that went bump in the night.
But then the demons started working overtime: killing hunters, kidnapping people, test running some kind of demonic virus. Nobody was quite sure what the end game was. Soon enough the demons masterminded the opening of the Devil's Gate in Wyoming, unleashing an army of their kind and freeing Lilith, the first demon. From there things turned apocalyptic.
Lilith and her followers want to release Lucifer from his cage in the deepest pit of Hell. To do it they have to break 66 Seals on his prison, which they have been tirelessly trying to do. Despite hunters’ best efforts to impede their way, many have already been broken and no one is sure just how few remain. Even still, seasoned hunters can almost feel the apocalypse bearing down on them.
But not unopposed. If a sudden excess of demons wasn’t enough of a game changer, a heavenly army of angels has taken vessels on Earth in an attempt to stop Lucifer’s well planned prison break. They’re not subtle, and they don’t really care who gets caught in the crossfire.
Between these two powerful supernatural forces, your average hunters are just trying to keep up. They all know something big is going down, but information is scarce. It’s getting harder to hide the supernatural from the usually oblivious civilian world, and more hunters are joining the ranks every day.
Something big is about to go down. And the Winchester brothers, well, they’re right at the center of it.
[NOW]
Set during the back half of season four, On the Road is a Supernatural RP. Our timeline picks up after the events of “On The Head of A Pin.” It’s a race to the Apocalypse, with the demons, lead by Lilith, trying to break Lucifer free before the angels can stop them. Humans, in the meantime, are just trying to survive. Hunters, having clued in on the approaching calamity and the fact that neither side really has humanity’s best interest in heart, are jumping in to put a stop to the Apocalypse their way.
Dean Winchester has been dealing with the fallout from spending four month in Hell all season, but he’s just learned that it had bigger consequences than he originally thought. He broke the first seal on Lucifer’s prison himself, by accepting the deal to torture others in Hell. Furthermore, he’s not sure just how much he can trust his brother anymore, after witnessing Sam use psychic power to torture information out of Alastair.
Sam Winchester just wants to kill Lilith, and will do anything to accomplish that goal. It all started after the demon killed Dean, but now that his brother is back and Lilith is threatening the whole world, it’s more than that. He’s taken a risk in trusting Ruby again, letting her help him become the best he can be by supplying him with the demon blood that lets him tap into psychic powers. He had been keeping this from Dean, but now it’s out there and he’s just trying to show his brother that this turn of events is a good thing that will help them save the world.
Castiel is experiencing doubt for the first time in his existence. After discovering that his commanding officer, Uriel, was behind a rash of angelic deaths, he isn’t sure who to trust. Except the Winchesters. Though not used to thinking for himself, his recent talk with Anna has lead him to think that maybe it’s time he start doing just that.
Angel. Demon. Hunter. The time's coming to pick a side. Choose well.
