Hi everyone and welcome to the brand new home of On The Road, an AU Supernatural RP that is in it's fifth year. Those of you who moved with us, we're so very glad you came! To those of you who are new here, welcome! We hope you come to love it here as much as we do.
So first some administrative business. As most of you probably know, I've been running OTR pretty much on my own since our original creator stepped back from the site, so I am very pleased to announce that I've promoted Lina, Lis, and Meg to administrative roles. They've been helping me out behind the scenes for so long, it was about time they got the recognition they deserve. Probably as we all settle into this new site, I'll delegate specific roles to specific people, but right now as we're all still in the moving process, if you need any help you can come to any of us at any time.
Now, about the move. I have no plans to delete the old OTR, so your threads and everything will still be there. We've found the best (and pretty much only) way to move the threads over here, however, is the old fashioned way. One post at a time. So you may move them or leave them as you like. Personally, I'm working on moving active threads that I wish to continue and leaving finished threads there for the time being, and that's the advice I give to you as well. If you wish to move your archived threads over, that is perfectly acceptable as well.
You'll also notice we time skipped the official plot line ahead. We will not be moving the official plot threads (Hush, the argument over the leadership of Hell, etc) and have considered them wrapped up with a brief summary in the official plot page. From this point forward, we are going into what we're calling "the season finale" plot, effectively wrapping up season six. From there we will head into a whole new plot line for season seven that we are really excited about and can't wait to show you.
Now, I'm going to go over some cool new aspects of the new site for those of you who have never used proboards before. The first being, of course, that now all your accounts are linked together! I personally find this really nifty. There are a couple ways to easily move back and forth between your accounts. The first is by clicking your avatar on the header at the top of the page. You can also click on your name on the header. Lastly, at the bottom right hand side of your browser there's a little toolbar and the first button on there is the one that will let you switch accounts.
You'll also notice that now you're allowed to use BBCode in your posts. Previously we haven't allowed this before so I hope you're as excited about it as I am. It's not mandatory of course, and you can still use plain text if you prefer it. If you ARE, however, looking for coding to use, I personally use Adoxography to look for things. There are other sites out there as well, so just take a look around and find things that you are comfortable using. If you have code related questions, I will be more than happy to answer them for you. (I have no idea what the other admins' level of comfort with coding is, so for now you can direct those questions to me.)
Another feature I really like is the ability to TAG the other people in your threads in your posts. It's very easy to do, for those of you that haven't, just use the @ sign followed by their username. So if I wanted Lina to see this thread, for example, I'd tag her as Admin Lina . You can easily find other people's usernames by hovering over their name. Tagging is great because it notifies the other person that you've posted for them. A notification will pop up in their navigation bar above that will let them know that you've tagged them.
Also a nifty feature is the bookmark system. When on a thread you want to bookmark, simply go to the action selection choices at the top of the thread and select to bookmark the thread. Then a bookmarks option will show up on your navigation bar and clicking it will take you to a page of just the threads you've bookmarked. I believe it will also notify you of new posts in threads, so there is another good way to keep on top of when your threads are updated.
I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, so for now I'll just say that if anyone has any questions, please ask me or one of my wonderful staff members Admin Lina , Admin Lis, and Admin Meg and we'll be very glad to help you.
Thank you all so much for choosing to continue along this crazy adventure with us.
